Ed Narrow's Artwork

Japanese Manga-style Paintings

I'm currently doing artwork and living in Bali, Indonesia. I've been experiencing various splendid adventures, learning new cultures, landscapes, and artists. I'm thrilled by Southeast Asia's magical world where beyond the diversity of religion and nature, folk-art and the multicoloured, free artistic thinking overwhelm me.

Within my previous popular style, I've recently been placing Japanese manga  and Indonesian wayang figures into my images, the mystical figures of  traditional Javanese shadow-puppet plays.

Wayang and manga are fairy and dreamlike, mysterious elements, have a certain cartoon-effect that helps me to express European/Western ways of thinking, emotions (anxiety, jealousy, love, freedom, etc) in a more extraordinary way.

My manga pictures are most popular with the youth. The 'Some Bizarre' Record company has been watching my style with great interest through the years, and the music group 'First Aid4Souls' used one of my manga figures as a cover illustration on their recently published CD.
